You belong to an organization representing more than 2,000 individual who are committed to preserving Wyoming’s quality of life, unique resources, and rich heritage. Fellow members are ranchers and farmers, townspeople, business owners, educators, and professionals. The membership is enriched with Affiliate Organizations across Wyoming addressing local issues. Those most active in 2025 are described below.
As Powder River Basin Resource Council continues to evolve by tapping into community, conversation and collaboration with Wyomingites and beyond, the organization relies on your participation, talent, and monetary support to continue the vital work.

We urge your participation in the grassroots movement that will continue shaping Wyoming’s future. Members vote on Resource Council leadership and position statements. They receive the BREAKS newsletter, periodic mailings on critical issues, emailed action alerts on legislative work and issue based campaigns. If your area of Wyoming is faced with an issue, please call PRBRC and we will review the nature of the issue and our capacity to assist in addressing it.

Join with an Annual Membership
Annual Memberships rates are kept affordable to keep you engaged even after the issues you have tackled have passed. Although annual membership reminders are sent out in the spring you may join or renew anytime throughout the year. A portion of large donations are earmarked to satisfy an annual membership. Your donation and membership helps us provide training and services including public education, leadership development, community organizing, and lobbying as permitted by law under the Council's 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax-exempt status.

How to Donate
As a not for profit, donations provide the strong backbone for our work. We reach out to members for additional financial support only three times a year. Beginning in the winter with work at the Legislature. In July to tap into the breadth of WYO Gives. To close out the year in November. You may respond either with enclosed envelopes from the mailing or online. WYO Gives requires using our link to make an online donation. Affiliate Organizations
Please join an affiliate with a donation of $5 with your annual PRBRC membership dues.
As part of our commitment to community-based grassroots organizing, we work with groups of our members across the state to focus on issues that are of the greatest importance at the local level. As of 2025 the current Affiliate Organizations are listed below.
Alliance for Renewable Energy of Laramie – Albany County
Alliance for Renewable Energy of Laramie was founded by Laramie Powder River members in 2018 who are interested in advocating and encouraging Laramie to be a leader in Wyoming's energy transition by promoting renewable energy use and efficiency.
Cheyenne Area Landowners Coalition – Laramie County
The Cheyenne Area Landowner's Coalition is an organization of property owners dedicated to protecting the financial and lifestyle interests of landowners whose properties are impacted by oil and gas development or other mining related processes; the Coalition is dedicated to protecting the property rights and lifestyle conditions of all landowners who are Coalition members.
Sheridan Area Resource Council – Sheridan County
Sheridan Area Resource Council (SARC) was started in 1991. We led a 10 year fight to protect the pristine Little Horn and Dry Fork area from a proposed storage project. The project was not built and the application was terminated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. In recent years, topics of interest to SARC members have included renewable energy, recycling, planning & zoning, protecting our starry night sky, enhancing recreation opportunities, and protecting water quality.
